The Night We Called It a Day
You always knew someday you would summon this song, but when the situation arrived, somehow you were not prepared. It hit you in the gut and left you wounded, weakened, dumbfounded. Most of the time you managed to almost bite-off the side of your cheeks, but every other minute you just gave up and let sorrow burn your eyes hot. You managed to go about your chores sluggishly hour by hour, but truthfully you just wanted to lie down and be enveloped by darkness.
There was a moon out in space
But a cloud drifted over its face
You kissed me and went on your way
The night we called it a day
I heard the song of the spheres
Like a minor lament in my ears
I hadn’t the heart left to pray
The night we called it a day
Soft through the dark
The hoot of an owl in the sky
Sad though his song
No bluer was he than I
The moon went down stars were gone
But the sun didn’t rise with the dawn
There wasn’t a thing left to say
The night we called it a day
The night fell but then the sun still rose this morning. You wished you could send it down again so you could just curl up in the dark.

I wish the sun would just call in sick
I wish the sun would just call in sick. It’s easier when you are tired late at night and finally drop off to sleep. But it’s no fun waking up pre dawn when your mind is wide awake and begins to analyze all the things you managed to screw up so bad. And then you just wish that the sun would stay mid-rising. Or you whisper that someone would just turn that bright light out, please.
