Catch Me if You’re Fashionable

November 29th, 2005

It was the middle of May when I received my fashion magazine for the summer and one of the captions said “The Look for Fall”. What? I hadn’t even worn my short pants and my leather thong for the summer hadn’t been worn-off of overused. And it was fall already? I had just retrieved my summer dresses from the back of my closets, for g-sake. The article killed my mood immediately, as quickly as the glam-rock style that made a stint come back before it was completely washed off by bohemian skirts and tunics.

Fashion nowadays evolves so quickly. It’s hard for a fashion-concious girl to catch up, and it’s possible now for a girl to die of fashion exhaustion attack. This thing was never heard of before the so-called age of informations, when people bought peacoat because it’s warm and practical, not because it’s been worn by Selma Blair, ripped from the runway.

But you have to understand that, when designers like Karl Lagerfeld—juggles eight collections a year for Chanel, Fendi, and his own label—relentlessly sees everything in the near future, six months, six months, six months. I don’t blame the information technology, but when fashion editors and reporters are willing to murder for up-to-date fashion news and spreads, the buyers, the consumers, the spectators, the admirers, and the likes of me, will be bombarded with choices of clothes and accessories the scales of toko kelontong in Indonesia. It’s overwhelming, to say the least, not to mention scares some people to death.

That’s why we always crave for the “versatile” pieces, tips on how to wear your “neutral” colors from summer to fall, and books on investing in expensive “basics” are always in style. That’s why we always reach for that pair of snug fit jeans almost every day, and those nude pumps every now and again, and that white starched shirt every time we have a fashion crisis. If fashion didn’t change so quickly, like Tom Ford once said in TIME, maybe people would not reject fashion and walk around in T-shirt and comfortable pants.

Award untuk Orang Paling Baik

November 27th, 2005

kalau ada award untuk orang yang paling baik padaku, pastilah kuberikan pada Rosemary (see my friends: mary). gimana gak senang, dia satu-satunya orang yang ngasih testimonial dan terang-terangan bilang aku cantik. woo-hoo! and the award goes to… Rosemary Kesauly! nomor dua, kuberikan pada Clara Ng (see my friends: Indiana I & II) karena dia bilang nama (lengkap)ku bagus. huahahaha! I wish I had the same sentiment. [no, I don't really like my full name, but I can't change it either. shakespeare said, what's in a name? well, I know with any other name I would smell as sweet as a rose , but I can't really see myself with a name like Rose (sorry, Rose, sweetie pie) or Sekar (as someone would love to call me; in your dreams, babe...)]

on the other hand, saat ini award yang sebaliknya (untuk orang yang gak terlalu baik padaku) pengen aku berikan ke seseorang. aku gak akan sebut namanya di sini, but actually I’d really like her to know. she’s really close to me and it hurt me real bad when she did what she did. kami sahabatan gitu looooh…

ALL of our hearts to something or someone.

inti dari posting ini adalah… aku pengen orang ini tahu bahwa dia, as a friend, had really, really hurt me.

when I told you not to tell A SOUL, ga, I really had a sound reason for that. but no, you just bragged it all (on purpose, I guess) like it was nothing. honey, I love you, but you just hugely pissed me off right now.

Kompilasi Patah Hati (Secondi))

November 24th, 2005

this is the second part of my compilations. bear with me. brace yourself. allright, here we go.

4. Separated by Usher

this is about two people who can’t seem to make their relationships work.

why don’t you go your way/and I’ll go mine/live your life/and I’ll live mine/baby you’d do well/and I’ll be fine/cause we’re better off separated

5. I’ll Be Over You by TOTO

as soon as forever is through/I’ll be over you

forever is too long, baby. when will this pain be over? never.

6. Ain’t No Sunshine by Bill Withers

how could everything around you seems to be the same when your blood is turning to tears in your veins?

7. The Hardest Day by The Corrs and Alejandro Sanz

the melody, the violins, slit your heart with razor sharp sadness.

never wanna wake up from this night/I’ll never wanna leave this moment/waiting for you only/only you

never wanna forget every little thing you do/when loving you is my finest hours/leaving you the hardest day of my life

8. If I Ain’t Got You by Alicia Keys

I’m not sure if this is officially categorized as a broken heart song, but it IS for me.

hand me the world on a silver platter/and what good would it be/with no one to share/no one who truly cares for me

if it ain’t you baby/if I ain’t got you baby

9. If You’re Not The One by Daniel Beddingfield

when you can’t have the one you love, you ask why, and pray, and hope.

and I hope that you’re the one I share my life with/and I wish that you could be the one I’d die with/and I’m praying you’re the one I build my home with/I hope I’ll love all my life

cause I love you whether it’s wrong or right

10. On Bended Knee by Boyz II Men

can we go back to the days our love was strong/can you tell me how our perfect love goes wrong/can somebody tell me how to keep things back the way they used to be

how could a love so perfect go terribly ugly?

ten sad songs for now.

this.

is.

exhausting.

Kompilasi Patah Hati

November 20th, 2005

this is a growing compilation of broken-heart songs. relax, it doesn’t have to be finished in one posting. enjoy. the songs and your broken heart.

1. This Ain’t A Love Song by Bon Jovi

I cried and I cried/there were nights that I’d die for you baby/I tried and I tried to deny your love drove me crazy

It made me so mad cause I wanted it bad for us baby/and now it so sad that whatever we had ain’t worth saving

huaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!! this is tragic.

2. Bed of Roses by Bon Jovi

tonight I won’t be alone to know that don’t mean I’m not lonely

Bon Jovi made the best tragic broken heart songs. and his voice fills you with desperations, you just want to lay down with a cigarette and slit your wrist.

3. (It’s Hard) Letting You Go by Bon Jovi

need I say more? just go through the whole lyric and you’ll understand why this is one of the best. I didn’t put it in no. 1 or 2 for a very personal reason, but just listen to it and weep.

now some tarot card shark said I’ll draw you a heart/and we’ll find you somebody else new/well I’ve made my last trip to those carnival lips/when I bet all that I had on you

and weep. and weep.

okay, enough sadness for one day. nobody can digest three Bob Jovi’s tragic love songs and desperations in one day.

but beware, this isn’t over.

(to be continued)

crap!

November 16th, 2005

it must be the narcissism in all of us that makes us reach for the mouse and click the "create a blog" icon. some did it instantly after friendster put it on the feature lists (like I did when they add "shout out" on our profiles. oh, there’s so much to be shouted out!), but some felt reluctant at first and waited til very, very late before they summoned the courage to create one, knowing that they would put too much of themselves and their thoughts out in the open and to be judged by others.

but it must be the curiosity in all of you that makes you reach for the mouse and click MY blog. there’s nothing much here, it’s just crap and bla bla bla and everything in between. but do check in again sometimes, to know how much more crap I post here, where it belongs. who knows some of them might do you some good.

ciao.
